Reading Responses Week 2
You can post your responses here. Feel free to respond to someone else's post if you think it's the best way to do so. Remember:
- put your name on the post so I know who gets credit.
- a response needs to be more than 3 sentences to be substantial enough to get credit.
Alternately, you may turn them in during class tomorrow.
Thanks!

Things are getting interesting in Mali
Mali is, of course, a landlocked West African state which was colonized by France. The northern part, which includes the legendary city of Timbuktu (and was part of a series of great West African Islamic states), is dominated by Tuareg, Berbers, and the like. There's been a rebellion there for some time; they've now taken over most of the north and declared independence as Azawad. No country or external organization has recognized them.... yet. Here's a quick article about the situation: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/10/all-hail-azawad/?hp.

Welcome!
This blog gives information for Julia Smith's class, "Revolution and Development in the Third World" at EWU. I'll be linking to interesting news items and things I'd like you to look at. All class critical materials will also be distributed in class. It should be a great time!
